Here’s to a Hopeful Race Day!

14 Mar

I leave tomorrow morning on the train to head to DC for the RnR USA Half Marathon. It’s true I haven’t ran a lot lately but I hope to get through the race with little struggle.

I started getting sick last week and ended up at urgent care Friday morning for acouple hours as I waited to be seen. They swabbed for strep throat but told me all of this was just a virus and it should go away on its own. Luckily today I’ve been feeling a little better and I’m hoping I’ll be fully recovered by Saturday so I can sucessfully run the 13.1 race! I was very excited the other day when my friend came to visit and made me a get well card.

Onto happier news, my sister brought me a gift a few weeks ago when she was in town. The school she teaches at was selling stuff to fundraise for their campus and she bought me this!!!

She knew I would be super stoked about this because I wear a candy necklace for almost every race that I run. Not so much for the 5k runs but anything longer than five miles I’ll usually wear one. They are great when it comes later in the race and you feel really slugish! All you have to do is reach for your candy necklace and chew off a few pieces, than you are good to go! I’m not exactly sure how I will use this one… it’s TWICE the size of my head!

May be the last time I write until after the RnR USA run so wish me luck! 🙂

Good luck in your race this weekend. I hope you recover from your cold and do well. I am in the same boat. I ran a half on Sunday and got sick. I am supposed to run the NC half marathon next weekend to scratch NC off my list of 50 state completions!

Good luck in your race this weekend. I hope you recover from your cold. I am in the same boat. I ran a half last weekend, and got a cold myself, and still fighting it. I have the NC Half Marathon next weekend, and haven’t gotten any training runs in this week! I am trying to do a half in all 50 as well, and NC will be knocked out next week! Good luck!

never thought to wear a candy necklace while running- im not a fan of things touching my neck, but perhaps a candy bracelet would do. Good luck this weekend!
