Three Things Thursday: Holiday Sign Ups

15 Nov

1.   I finally got around for putting my free promo code to use for the Mardi Gras 10k run in Louisianna. It’s in February, which seems far away but in reality I still have to find travel plans and find a place to stay for the weekend. I’ve heard that Louisianna gets extrememly busy during Mardi Gras so this can’t be another California experience where I don’t think about booking anything until a month before hand and than get stuck skipping out on the race because it would cost heaps more at that point in time. I’ll probably start looking at travel plans and hotels between Thanksgiving and Christmas… though that’s going to be the busiest time for me with shopping and getting ready for the holidays but I’ll get it done.

2.   Today I also got around to putting my name down for the Palm City Turkey Trot! I was hesitate about running this 5k because my friend and I are leaving for Florida the day BEFORE Thanksgiving and will be arriving at my Grandmothers house really late at night/early in the morning. Though I’ll have had little sleep the night before, I really had my heart set on doing a Turkey Trot this year so that’s why I decided to go ahead and register. I also signed my dad up for this race as well so it will be a good chance to run together since he had to miss out on the Rhode Island Half Marathon back in October. Unfortunetly, I don’t think my mom will be able to run with us. She got pulled down our back staires about a week ago from our three dogs at home and hurt her knee pretty badly. If she decides to drive to the race with us, it will be nice to have her there as a cheerleader!

3.   I’m trying something new this year for Christmas. I came across this blog entry about a Holiday Card exchange. I thought this would be a really great thing for me to do this year and a chance for me to not only get my blog out there more, but also to share Christmas cheer with those that I don’t even know! If you are interested in participating in this event just go HERE and read more about it. Than email her and sign up with your email, address, and blog address (if you have one) and start picking out Holiday cards. That’s really all there is to it. It sounds like a really great thing to do and seeing as it shouldn’t be more than five or six people I’ll be sending cards to I figure it’s worth the little extra to bring Christmas cheer to others. 🙂
